Biography

Over 17 years of Danica’s work had given her a deeply rooted understanding of working with youths, athletes, and adults. She now dedicates her therapy work to supporting these groups of people in cultivating physical, emotional, social and mental well-being. Her diverse exposure in coaching and teaching extends to students and athletes in local, and international club/school communities and elite-level athletes.

Stemming from her earlier experience in sport psychology, and ongoing work in compassion, mindfulness and yoga therapy, Danica approaches therapy through a biopsychosocial perspective. This adopts a therapeutic approach in exploring how an individual’s biology, psychology and sociology environmental factors may affect their present quality of life and their physical, emotional, social and mental well-being.

Danica specialises in working with evidence-based interventions through the lens of mindfulness-based existential psychotherapy, and positive neuroplasticity. She is also experienced in areas such as awareness and embodiment work through yoga therapy and counselling for LGBTQIA+.

Danica also facilitates the mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) programme for adults, an eight-week evidence-based course that offers secular, intensive mindfulness training to help people cope with stress, anxiety, depression and pain.

Aligning with her philosophy in therapeutic work, Danica recognises that every human being is different and therapy should be tailored to her client’s needs. She hopes to help individuals cultivate insights and skills into issues presented during therapy and positively empower them to integrate the resources learned into their lives.

Testimonials

"Danica is what makes a good counsellor a good counsellor. The ability to bring forth genuine trust in her patients who have difficulty placing so is remarkable, as well as her strong empathetic side. Patient and non-judgemental, she has brought out many repressed memories and helped connect them. As I am someone who has experienced a form of amnesia from my childhood, Danica has used their observational and listening skills to help me slowly uncover them as a form of healing. In short, Danica is a very kind and accepting person who does their best to understand their clients and bring the best out of them." – MG

From the first session, Danica was approachable and able to create a safe environment for me to share my experiences with her. She was patient in allowing me to express myself and someone I felt that I could really trust. This made all the difference to me, as I had a supportive and non-judgmental environment to work through things I had been struggling with. I’ve learnt a lot from her and will continue using these tools and practices in my life. Thank you Danica for always being so sincere in helping me, I’m very glad to have crossed paths with you (:" – Anonymous

"Therapy with Danica has helped me to visualise and process emotions that I had previously struggled a lot with.
