Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based talk therapy that assists in the identification and correction of limiting thoughts and harmful emotions. While originally developed as a treatment for depression, CBT has since proven effective at treating a range of mental illnesses including anxiety, OCD, PTSD, phobias, and eating disorders.

The goal of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is to break the cycle of destructive behaviors that are driven by negative emotional responses to distressing thoughts. CBT treatment helps to cultivate new, healthier thought patterns and behaviors that replace the old, unhelpful ones.

During your Cognitive Behavioral Therapy sessions, your therapist will train you in techniques designed to deconstruct and update your thoughts and emotions for the better. Over the course of several sessions, you will develop and reinforce the skills you need to create healthier thinking patterns.
