Chei Liang Sin

Chei Liang, a former corporate lawyer in private practice, made a career change to be in the helping profession of counseling, as she wanted to be able to touch people’s lives at a personal level and in a more meaningful way. She believes in working collaboratively with clients in facilitating their reflection and understanding of themselves, and the discovery of their inner strengths and resources to make positive changes in their lives and mental wellbeing.

 

Chei Liang has worked with a broad spectrum of clients on various issues, including: anxiety, emotional dysregulation, depression, trauma, self-esteem issues, workplace issues, perfectionism, career/ life transition, relationship issues, parent/child issues, compulsive behaviors, and grief and loss. She also offers career and life coaching, couples therapy and family counseling.

 

Chei Liang adopts an integrative approach in her counseling, and specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Schema Therapy and Transactional Analysis. She tailors her treatment plan according to the unique needs and profile of her clients.

BIOGRAPHY

Chei Liang was a corporate lawyer in private practice prior to her being qualified as a counselor. Her corporate background coupled with her rich life experiences put her in a good stead in understanding and appreciating the stressors faced by clients at their different phases in life. Her own journey of navigating through the myriads of challenges in both personal and professional lives, places her in a unique and congruous position to provide counseling to the working professionals. She embraces cultural diversity, and works with a broad spectrum of clients in both local and foreign communities, including LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients.

 

In addition to dealing with clients’ issues on a Here-and-Now basis, and equipping them with the necessary tools and approaches, Chei Liang believes in helping clients uncover the root causes of their issues, and empowering them with life-long strategies to restore their emotional equilibrium. While being rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Schema Therapy, Chei Liang adopts an integrative approach in her counseling, and incorporates other modalities as appropriate, such as Transactional Analysis, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Choice Theory/ Reality Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. With her training in Schema Therapy and Transformational Chairwork Psychotherapy, she often adopts experiential therapeutic approaches to help clients in their healing journeys and work through their past traumas, grief and loss, or any repressed emotions.

 

Chei Liang, originally from Malaysia, has been living in Singapore over 30 years. She is married with two lovely sons who have just entered their young adulthood. She had been a Senior Partner at both Singapore and International law firms, and her last appointment was as a Senior Partner with one of the largest global law firms. She speaks English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
